I’ve embarked on a healthy lifestyle journey (or weight loss journey, if you prefer) more times than I’d like to admit.
Since 2014, I’ve lost and gained weight more times than I’d like to admit.
It’s 2022, and I’m on the journey again.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I’m afraid shitless to fail…again.
However, I have dedicated myself to get to the bottom of why living a healthy lifestyle journey long-term is so freakin’ hard.
It seems as though this lifestyle just won’t click for me.
I’ve had my ups and down. But doggit, I want something long-lasting!
I just may be on to something… Hopefully.
I recently read that majority of people don’t stick to healthy lifestyle habits long-term due to underestimating and discounting the future. Meaning, things that we have now are more valuable to us than the things we will have in a few years.
So, in short, the main reason that trips me up and keeps me in this never-ending weight loss cycle is the fact that I focus on right now too much.
The stress I have is right now. So, therefore, I may as well eat a cookie.
I don’t see results right now, so what’s the point of continuing this journey.
I don’t really put the work in for the future.
And now that I think about it, I believe this instant gratification mindset is a mindset I’ve always had but maybe I’m just now realizing it…?
Maybe if I fix this part of the process, then I’ll become more successful long-term? Either way, I’m about to find out.
Stay tuned…
